Orphan Sunday 2012
This coming Lord’s Day many churches will be having a special focus on ministering to orphans. We are joining in and will also be placing a special emphasis upon the crying need for Christians to be aware of just how vast this area of ministry really is and what God says about it in His Word. An object lesson will follow the service. You are encouraged to stay and partake of an orphan’s meal in the fellowship hall. This will not take long (a special note for those will small children-you will not be there for a long time), as there will not be that much to eat. That is the point! This meal will be an exact replica of the meal that orphans normally receive in third world countries. Prepare to leave hungry!!! In the evening we will be having our 1st Sunday prayer meeting in conjunction with partaking of the Lord’s Supper. There will be a special emphasis on prayer for this area of ministry as well.
The purpose of all this is not to produce guilt or to promote being involved in any specific ministry. The purpose is to produce a greater awareness and to provide a starting point for those who are interested to pursue more information about how to get involved.
Over the next few days I will be posting more information in preparation for this special emphasis.
